Pre-sightseeing IV

Over the weekend we partook of two more films set in Rome: Rome Adventure (1962) and Angels and Demons (2009).

One of AMC's colleagues had recommended Rome Adventure and it was quite lovely.  It makes nods to Three Coins, with its young woman in search of love theme, but very much updated and must have been a bit risque in 1962!; Roman Holiday, just compare the posters; and surely the sequence with Al Hirt in the jazz club picks up on La Dolce Vita.  But the best part, in AMC's mind at least, is that it features an Etruscologist as a supporting character!!  This film must have the most numerous references to the Etruscans of any film outside of a documentary!

We had both seen A&D in the theater when it was first released and were disappointed, having read the much better book by Dan Brown several years before seeing it. The second viewing made it much more palatable. And of course the views of Roman places were always wonderful!
