Our second screening included Hudson Hawk (1991) and La Dolce Vita (1960). Not as even a pairing as our first screening! It is hard to believe that the Hawk could be so bad with a good cast! Vita was ALM's introduction to Fellini and AMC was left, as always after watching it, with the feeling of having consumed too much dolcezza!

I have the great pleasure of watching and discussing LDV often. I've been using it as the last segment of my "Rome in Film, Fact, and Fiction" course, and that film is still blowing me away.
Now I catch more and more of the details, the subtle games, the amazing visual work that Fellini pulls off. I'm more humbled by it than I was before I started teaching it.
Here's a 1997 review by Ebert that is well worth reading.
I loved looking at all of the great scenery I am going to see! I just can't wait any longer!
